Every year, as part of the Pop Montreal festival, Puces Pop holds a fashion show sponsored by Le Chateau. 6 emerging Quebec designers present a mini-collection of 6 looks to a panel of judges from the industry and the winner receives a 2000$ prize. Interested in being a part of this years’ show? We’re looking for some emerging Quebec designers with no more then 2 collections (or none) to their name. Email any questions and examples of your work to marilis.cardinal [AT] gmail [DOT] com before July 31rst. This year’s show will take place on October 2nd.

I know I’m really late on this post, but I was waiting until I had a program on my computer so I could put the text at the bottom of the photo to make it look all professional and stuff, but since I got robbed and had to get a new laptop I don’t have Photoshop yet so my blogging life in sort of in shambles. These pictures are from the pride parade in Toronto a couple weeks ago.  I was supposed to be on the House of Lords float in the parade with all my friends but I got lost and missed it.  Too bad.

Both Cary and I (by some freak accident of nature-seriously) happened to be wearing rompers to the parade.  This photo is a prime example of romper fashion at its finest.  Basically romper fashion means that everything your wearing is attached together, and made of the same fabric.  Romper’s are made for romping.  The dictionary says: Romper - a person or thing that romps.

Rompers used to be made in adult sizes (because they’re really comfortable, and for phys-ed class when our parents were kids) but now unfortunately, they’re mostly only made for babies.

Some more good examples of rompers I wish I owned:

even the evil corporation American Apparel makes a romper, but I’m a brat and I don’t like it based on principle, sorry AA lovers, but I’m not a fan of cookie cutter fashion.

So after I payed my rent, I still had a lot of discarded posessions to sell so we set up a lovely little vintage store on the corner of Prince Arthur and Hotel de Ville until some not-so-welcome guests shut us down:

Times are tough and I need to make rent, so I’m selling a lot of my things, come buy them! It’s Canada day so stores are closed, you’re not working! Come visit me on my porch, buy my clothes, bring the necessary for sangria making and let’s celebrate. I’m making goddamn neon cupcakes!!

The address is 5192 St-André, take the metro to Laurier, once you get there, take the Laurier exit and turn left- once you’re out and walk down Laurier until you reach St-André which is about 2-3 streets after, then turn left again until 5192, there’s a big dead tree with no branches in front. It’s pretty easy to find, I’ll be knitting on my porch, waiting for you while my landlord waits for my cheque.

Two trendy beauties on the main stopped to take a photograph by dane. High waist skirts, tucked in shirts. Two big flirts, sweater sets work, big bags, smoking fags, white shoes, white hair, peep toes, toe hair.

Jingle Bells batmans girlfriend yells “i’m here to save the day” Jumped to the roof, took one big poof of a j and spent the day real amongst Batmobeer up the rear too bad i let him get a way hay.

This gurl has us turned on. I like her patchwork dress very pretty, did you make it?? Bake it? Put in a pan .

Coincedencially it was thunders and lighnings a couple moments after snapping this photograph. how appropiate she is too chooose a shirt that matches the weather.

Chelsi Claire Ceihledh the three C’s in combat stance. Speaking of stance, Chelsi you should always pose like this like a flamingo!!!! You should be wearing a pink flamingo swimming dress… i’ll make you one.

This is Cornelius after the rain in St. Louis Square. He is from Germany. This picture was taken some time ago but got lost in the mess of Pregnant Goldfish archives. Doesn’t he look beautiful?

I have a thing for perfect little pleats and braided hair and clearly this young lady is successfully achieving both of my requirements.

I am pleased to announce that I have finally emerged from 10 solid days of depression and self-pitying sarcasm after moving to New York and being robbed two weeks ago.  Although I no longer have any clothes, shoes, laptop, camera or belongings I am ready to go on another 3 year mission for the perfect vintage Doc Martens (size 7 if anybody has some lying around they want to donate).

But here are some of the wonderful photos that were part of a special Montreal streetstyle spread Pregnant Goldfish is doing for NYLON Japan this fall.  If I took your picture and its not here, its because it was on my laptop which by now has probably been traded for drugs in some slum in New York.  More to come.

A year ago, we started this very blog by cataloguing the best looks from the Fringe Festival and Main Madness. It’s been a year and we’re still at it. Say hi to this handsome young fellow from Toronto who looks like a darling little farmer who escaped to come jam with the Sun Ra Arkestra at the fringe.

This mysterious quiet beautiful lady was also spotted around the same place at the Parc des Amériques, and not long after I took this photo, this happened:
